Jeff’s Notes: This marine audio systems consists of a set of Focal Flax PS165 F3 in the front, a set of Flax PS 165FX in the rear, a front mounted Flax Sub P 25 F 10″ subwoofer all being powered by a Memphis Marine 5 channel amp. For the main source, we mounted a Memphis marine audio controller on the swim platform with a Sony wired remote control to be able to adjust the system from the drivers seat. Source options include AM/FM, USB audio, 3.5mm Aux input and streaming Bluetooth. All products were mounted with King Starboard HDPE including the front components which replaced the mirrors and the storage covered which was replaced by the 10″ woofer. All speakers are back lit with variable color LED strip lights. We also crafted a battery box from 1/2″ starboard and fastened it with stainless steel bolts. The two batteries are isolated via a 200A relay. We installed charging ports on the amp rack for the secondary battery. The amp and Focal crossovers were mounted just below the seat on a custom made amp rack. All custom pieces were crafted from Starboard, stainless steel and aluminum. Every single connection, including power, speaker, antenna, and signal cable was sealed using 4 to 1 Ratio polyolefin heat shrink with inner adhesive liner. This allows every single connections to be completely sealed without question. Most wiring was covered with expandable nylon braided sleeving.
We also cut access holes in the amp rack to allow the oil level to be checked without having to remove the amp rack. Speaking of the amp rack, since those bolts rest against the outer hull, we protect the hull with rubber washers underneath the stainless steel fender washer.
Having built many very cool stereo systems in cars, trucks, boats and more over the past 25+ years, once we turned this system on we were all smiles. Simply amazing sound from the Focals.
